Surf meets wine country
Swell Brewing Co is an independent craft brewery at the northern end of McLaren Vale, founded by a family of keen surfers. The name and brand lean heavily into coastal surf culture, and the brewery's beers have become a fixture at Fleurieu surf breaks and beach kiosks.
The beer
The core range includes a golden ale, pale ale, session IPA and lager, plus a rotating line-up of seasonals. The beers are all brewed on site in the McLaren Vale taphouse, and many are available exclusively at the brewery or on the coastal pub circuit.
The taphouse
The taphouse is open weekends (plus Monday) and features the full Swell range on tap alongside a rotating food truck line-up. The setting is relaxed and family-friendly, with long tables and an outdoor area. It is a popular end-of-the-day stop for groups who have been on a wine tour.
